In this class, participants will explore the fundamentals of observational drawing through direct looking and intentional mark-making. Students will build confidence and develop a more sensitive and expressive line through exercises such as blind contour, gesture, and long-form studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this class, participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Become familiar with the expressive use of charcoal and varied line quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop stronger observational skills through blind contour, continuous line, and gesture drawing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand and apply concepts such as positive and negative space and relative perspective<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Instructor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/leahwilson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leah Wilson<\/a>&nbsp;is a place-based visual artist, educator, and outdoor enthusiast. She considers specific places to be long-term collaborators in art. Many of her chosen places correlate to long-term ecological research and scientific inquiry. Attracted by the enduring focus of inquiry into a specific place, she is now an episodic lifetime artist in residence at the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest near Blue River, Oregon. Her artwork often follows seasonal changes in the environment, telling the story of environmental change through color, patterns, and form from a macro to a micro level. Leah makes her home in Eugene, Oregon, and teaches at Oregon State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Questions?
